Recently, some unpublished romance pages have turned up on the public market. Katz drew these pages for the DC Comics romance line. Dorothy Woolfolk (a former cartoonist) was the editor there at the time. The pages were stamped with the date 1971.
Throughout his career, Katz left many of his projects unfinished. His passion to create more art always led him on to new avenues of expression. Here are some of his unfinished works.
In 1978, Katz drew a comic strip written by sci-fi author Tom Scortia. The strip only lasted a few weeks. It ran in the North East Bay Independent and Gazette newspaper. Here are a few samples of the strip.
One of Jack's many unfinished projects is his graphic novel Eagles. This was Jack's tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood, an epic story about the motion picture industry. As he briefly lived in Hollywood, Jack has a special place in his heart for the mythmakers of the silver screen.
A few pages have been drawn out, along with a cover layout. A story outline has been written. And Jack continues to draw sketches of the characters for the story. In his spare time, Jack continues to dream and draw his ideas for the story.... if only he had the time to finish what surely would be a compelling masterpiece. BERKELEY, CA - Thanks to the generous support of Jack's friends, the first ever West Coast solo exhibition for Jack Katz was held on Fourth Street in Berkeley, California. The exhibit included original art from The First Kingdom, oil paintings, and a historical overview of the Golden Age and Bronze Age comic book work by Katz. Thousands of dollars were invested into making this show a reality, and Jack's friends came together to assemble and mount this exhibit.
The 500-page graphic novel Beyond the Beyond was completed by Jack Katz in June 2019. This book is the follow up to Katz's First Kingdom series. Beyond was started in 2014, and was financed with an IndieGoGo fundraiser organized by Caroline Gold. The fundraiser raised 9466$ to finance the development of this graphic novel. More info can be read here: As of today (February 2022), Beyond the Beyond remains to be published.
